WOWIO and Top Cow Productions Release WILDFIRE Comic Series

Companies partner to develop and produce GMO-based storyline across multiple media distribution platforms

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA, June 5, 2014 - Wowio, Inc. (OTCBB:WWIO), an established leader in digital media creation and content distribution, committed to developing, producing and distributing engaging entertainment properties across the digital media landscape, today announced that the company has partnered with Top Cow Productions to produce and distribute a comic book series entitled WILDFIRE.  Published under Top Cow’s Minotaur Press imprint and Wowio’s Carthay Circle Publishing, the 4-issue series tackles the topical issue of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), with the first issue being released in print form in comic book stores and as an eComic on wowio.com on June 11, 2014.  The series was written by Top Cow’s President Matt Hawkins, who has also adapted the series as a feature film project.

The logline for WILDFIRE: Is genetically modified food an end to world hunger or a first class ticket to the apocalypse?  Dan Miller is a plant biologist working with a small team perfecting an accelerated plant growth process.  When things go wrong, Los Angeles pays the price in a disaster story unlike any before.   “This is a subject matter that Matt has been passionate about for a long time,” said Brian Altounian, Wowio’s CEO.  “After the success he had with his science fiction action thriller series THINK TANK, we were thrilled to be working with him and artist Linda Sejic to bring WILDFIRE to life.”  The company plans to develop additional media content around the comic series for distribution across its digital media outlets such as its Pop Galaxy channel, its Duck Webcomics site, and its eBook distribution platform wowio.com.  WILDFIRE represents the first Wowio-owned property to be released on the company’s recently-announced mobile app available today on Google Play.

“Wildfire wouldn’t exist without Brian Altounian and Wowio’s support and I’m honorored to be working with them on this project,” says Wildfire creator/writer and Top Cow President Matt Hawkins.  “It will be the first of many collaborations.”

In addition to its proprietary library of creative content, WOWIO holds a proprietary patent that allows for the insertion of advertising into eBooks, providing the digital publishing distribution channel as a viable alternative to that of other content distribution outlets.  For further information and updates, follow WOWIO on social media and at http://www.studiowdigital.com.
